SRI Ayappan Seva Samajam, a spiritual centre and charitable movement located at Jalan Sri Bahari continued its tradition of holding a Deepavali luncheon for the various charitable organisations as well as single mothers.
This year marks its 10th year of successfully organising the event which is supported by Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh.
During the luncheon which was held at the Cheshire Home, a total of 350 Deepavali hampers were presented to 250 residents from 19 charitable homes throughout Penang and also to 100 single mothers.
Jagdeep, in his speech, commended the Sri Ayappan Seva Samajam for working tirelessly and silently to make the lives of others better through their community programmes.
“We would like to thank Cheshire Home for being the venue sponsor of the luncheon for the third consecutive year. And I also would like to applaud the Sri Ayyapan Seva Samajam team members who work silently for the well-being of the community without expecting any publicity and for organising events such as this.
“Deepavali signifies light prevailing over darkness and for us, the darkness was conquered on May 9 giving us hope of a better future for us and our children. And today just like how I will announce yearly, as the state assemblyman for Datok Kramat I am contributing RM10,000 for this function,” said Jagdeep.
