Visitors can get to savour a wide range of local and international cuisine at PIFF 2019.
State Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin announced that the PIFF would comprise three major events, namely the Street Food Festival, Taste of Penang and Penang Seafood Galore.
The Steet Food Festival and Taste of Penang will be take place on the island while Penang Seafood Galore will be held on the mainland.
“There will also be Latte Art throwdown on April 20 and a profesional chef cooking competition on April 28. They are a way of boosting coffee makers and professional chefs to demonstrate their skills in the food and beverage industry,” Yeoh told a press conference in Komtar today.
Other pocket events happening during PIFF 2019 include mini festivals, food trails, dining experiences and competitions.
During the press conference, Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan said applications are now open for food vendors such as food hawkers, cafes, hotels and restaurants to participate in the 16-day food festival (following each theme) by sending in their proposals to [email protected].
“In conjunction with the PIFF 2019, a photography contest will be held to encourage food and photography enthusiasts to capture memorable moments of their favourite Penang food. The contest offers cash prizes to the winners,” Ooi said.
