Digital information technology plays a key part for cities to make transition to ‘smart cities’ , says CM

CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow said Penang International Commercial City (PICC) will soon transform the skyline of Penang.

“Making Penang world class international is not impossible.

“The location of PICC itself begs the fact that this is a choice location for investors, tourists and for Malaysians who desire sustainable living.

“In this time and age, we have to realise that the evolution of work and our lifestyle demands that we rethink the spaces in which we work, live and play.

“I am glad to hear that PICC is designed to enhance connectivity in this area and will promote more trade exchange, attract more foreign investment and provide a safe, green and sustainable lifestyle for all of its stakeholders,” Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said when he officiated the Ground Opening Ceremony of Penang International Commercial City in Bayan Baru on November 10.

He added that over the last few years, the people have witnessed how digital technologies brought about changes and opportunities to many industries.

“I am therefore pleased to learn that PICC will adopt the digitalisation approach to create a city with enhanced performance and better quality for its inhabitants,” Chow stressed.

Also present were founder & executive adviser of Hunza Properties Berhad Datuk Seri Khor Teng Tong and Group managing director Datuk Khor Siang Gin.

Also joining them was Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Meanwhile, Siang Gin said PICC is a huge project and will their main focus for the next 10 years.

“Hunza has always worked in line with the state’s objectives and coming up with world class integrated development in Penang is no easy task .

“We are always deeply grateful for the very strong support from the government, the banks, our contracts, the consultants for this project and our dedicated staff,” he added.
