AIR Itam, which is one of the most attractive tourism spots in Penang, now allows visitors to experience the town’s uniqueness in another perspective, through its 360 degrees virtual tour.
Known for its very famous attractions such as Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si Temple and the recently created mural paintings in the town centre, Air Itam is also a food haven, notably for its well known laksa.
Through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort by Spacentive with Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng, Penang Foodie and Penang Hidden Gems, Air Itam has become the first constituency in the state to let visitors to discover itself virtually.

Ng, who was delighted with such initiative to promote local tourism, said many visitors can opt to explore Air Itam in a new perspective.
“This allows them to get a better understanding and obtain a sufficient information before visiting.
“Visitors are also able to preview Air Itam in any parts of the globe.
“This project took us about a month to complete as such initiative had started March this year.
“The landscape has clearly changed ever since the Covid-19 pandemic struck,” he said at a press conference at the Lower Station of Penang Hill today.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, who was present, was happy to note the effort by Ng in promoting local tourism.
“It helps the state to bridge a step closer towards realising our vision to becoming a smart tourism destination.
“I am extremely proud to see the effort by local assemblyman to assimilate digital initiatives into their respective constituencies.
“We emphasise the use of digital platforms to promote local food, culture and art.
“Therefore, this virtual tour will showcase the best of Air Itam to the people,” he said.
During the press conference, pressmen were also able to catch a glimpse of a short video presentation featuring attractions in Air Itam.
Also present was Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
