THE Bangunan Persekutuan (Federal building) Sports and Welfare Club (KESKEPB), in collaboration with its maintenance and coordination committee, distributed basic necessities to the needy community around the Jalan Anson area that was affected due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
KESKEPB chairman Asuat Ahmad said the basic necessities, which included rice, cooking oil, biscuits and packed sardines, were handed out to some 150 workers inside the building and several individuals under the B40 group.
“Times are bad now, so we decided to do our part by giving something back to the affected community in the form of food items.
“Through this effort, it is hoped that the recipients will be able to save some amount that they would usually spend to buy their routine basic necessities.
“This is a small gesture of empathy from my team for those who have been greatly affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic,” Asuat said during the distribution of the basic necessities at the Bangunan Persekutuan in George Town.
He also said that this initiative was made possible through the various contributions by the KESKEPB members.
“I would like to thank all the 600 KESKEPB members who come from 21 different departments within this building for stepping up and making this effort a reality,” he added.
