CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has urged certain quarters not to make allegations of a few factory closures in Penang.
“Alleging that factories are being shut down is considered a serious allegation which we should not commit,” Chow told a press conference at Olive Tree Hotel today. He was asked about a comment by Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong on a few factory closures.
“However, investPenang will verify before making any announcement.
“We prefer the factories themselves to make the announcements (if they are closing down).”
On water tariff issue in Penang, Chow said Penang is waiting for the final say from the Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry.
“If there is no announcement from the Minister (Dr Xavier Jayakumar ) that means the national water tariff mechanism has not been finalised yet.”
