A SUM of RM7,300 was collected by the Hampshire Group at its durian buffet fiesta at its Farm Fresh Depot for the Penang Community Chest and Association of Resource and Education for Autistic Children (LionsREACh) and to support the state’s “Makan makan sampai habis” programme.
Exco member for Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Phee Boon Poh was present in Komtar on Oct 22 to represent the Penang Community Chest in receiving the cheque from Joe Lim Hun Beng, group managing director and CEO of Hampshire Group.
Lim Shin Ying of LionsREACh was also present to receive a cheque of the same amount from Hun Beng.
“Makan makan sampai habis is a great programme to raise awareness on preventing wastage of food. I hope that more people will learn and support this programme to reduce food wastage in Penang.” said Phee.
The “Makan makan sampai habis” campaign encourages people to not to overcook at home or over order meals and eating places to prevent unnecessary wastage.
The main objectives of this campaign are to inculcate a responsible lifestyle that prevents unnecessary food wastage, to encourage the general community to value and appreciate food resources and to ensure food security through the responsible use of food resources so that food is not wasted and reaches communities which need them.} else {
