MINISTER of Water, Land and Natural Resources Dr Xavier Jayakumar this morning called upon Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at the latter’s office in Komtar and were joined by state exco for Local Government, Housing and Town & Country Planning Jagdeep Singh.
Also in attendance were senior officers of the state Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) as well as its state director Datuk Sabri Abdul Mulok and PBAPP chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa.
A subject matter which was brought up during the meeting was the urgency to begin works on the Sungai Pinang Flood Mitigation Project which amounted to RM150 million.
Jagdeep told Minister Dr Jayakumar that tension rises among Penangites whenever it rains these days and that the Sungai Pinang Flood Mitigation Project is very much needed to alleviate flood woes in the former’s constituency of Datok Keramat.
Both Chow and Jagdeep urged the federal authorities to expedite the Sungai Pinang Flood Mitigation Project instead of the proposed 2 year-wait.
