THE Youth Entrepreneurship Foundation (YEF) will be holding a Penang International Green Conference at KDU University College Penang on Nov 24 from 8am to 7pm.
State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said there would be eight speakers sharing their views and five workshops conducted during the one-day conference.
“This is where sharing and caring are important. A lot of people say that Penang has done their part in terms of awareness. But the state government wants to emphasise that awareness alone is not enough. Awareness must be followed by compassion, love and concern and also the commitment,” Phee told a press conference in Komtar on Nov 1.
Also present were representatives from Entopia, Greensmiths, Solarvest Energy Sdn Bhd, Terracode Sdn Bhd, Solarvest and Think City.
The speakers include YEF chairman Calvin Chan who will touch on ‘Reducing food waste through social biz’, Loi Hang Kuang from Terracode (Waste to Gold), Siow Eik Kwang from Buddhist Tzu-Chi Society Malaysia (Engaging the Actions, Engaging the Hearts), Nature Learning Division of Entopia (Entomophagy ‘Insects As Food’), Calvin Lee from Solarvest Energy Sdn Bhd (The Exponential Growth of Solar Energy and Us), Christina Lind-Hunter from GreenSmiths (Youth and the Environment), Karthigayan Gunasegaran from Think City (Sustainable Township Planning) and Dr Choong Jian Ming (Journey to the West).
