Election campaign nears climax

THE momentum is expected to culminate in the last remaining days of the state election campaign period, says caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow, who is also the Penang Pakatan Harapan chairman, said the ‘unity’ candidates received encouraging responses from the public during their campaigns.

“I trust that Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters do not have any issues in voting for the Barisan Nasional candidates as they know the need for the partnership.

“Likewise, I hope that Umno (Barisan Nasional) will be able to convince its supporters and members to vote for their candidates and the Pakatan Harapan candidates,” Chow told the media during a walkabout at the Sri Weld Food Court this afternoon.

The PH and BN candidates are commonly known as ‘unity’ candidates.

Chow said the supporters and the rakyat are aware of the political collaboration between PH and BN and have adapted to it.

On a not-so-positive note, Chow said a general view suggests that the younger generation root for the Opposition due to social media influences.

Earlier today, Chow and several coalition members met traders and the public in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling and its surrounding areas.
