A NEW community hall is set to be built in the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency to serve the diverse needs of the residents, providing a space for various activities and bringing the community together.
Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh announced this during his parliamentary constituency’s Chinese New Year open house at Dewan Awam Pasar Paya Terubong today.
Ramkarpal shared that the new community hall will be built at the old Air Itam Sunshine site and is expected to be completed in a year.
“This will be an important development for the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency and I believe it will be received well by the residents.

“The new community hall will be located in the center of the three constituencies, Paya Terubong, Air Itam, and Seri Delima,” Ramkarpal added.
Ramkarpal also emphasised the importance of unity, saying that the community is united by diversity, not divided by it.
“We should take pride in our cultural diversity, as seen in the recently concluded Chinese New Year, Thaipusam, and the upcoming Ramadan month.
“This is because we always celebrate each other’s festivals and traditions with joy and prosperity. Do not listen to political propaganda, which is just racial rhetoric,” he said.
Ramkarpal also thanked Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow for his support of the various programmes held across all three constituencies under Bukit Gelugor.
Meanwhile, Chow said that the state government will continue to improve its administration to ensure Penang’s continued progress.

“The state government, state representatives, Village Community Management Council (MPKK) members, and state machinery must continuously enhance their performances.
“We have been given the opportunity to lead the state government for the past 17 years, and we hope to continue bringing significant changes in areas such as the economy, tourism, industry, and all other sectors to ensure their growth.
“Most importantly, the focus is on providing high-paying employment opportunities and business prospects so that all of us can enjoy a better quality of life.
“Thank you for the support given to the state government and we promise to keep pushing forward with our efforts. Let us join hands to develop Penang for the betterment of all Penangites,” Chow added.
