Enhancing science education through ‘Rover Science’LEARNING science has become rather interesting with the latest ‘Rover Science’ – a vehicle designed for a mobile library.
The Penang Public Library Corporation, in-collaboration with Tech Dome Penang and the Penang government initiated the Rover Science to encourage more students to learn science.
Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy said purpose of the mobile library was to bring science-based activities to the students.
“The Rover Science programme such as workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, science and technology activities will be held at shopping malls, community halls and other public spaces using the vehicle.
“The materials used for conducting activities and experiments are provided by Tech Dome Penang, while pre-school science books are contributed by The WhyteHouse Education Group.
“This project is funded by state government at a cost of RM400,000. The fund will cover initial expenses and operating costs for one year,” he said on Nov 19.
Dr Ramasamy hoped that the Rover Science would be able to create a wise community in facing the Industry 4.0.
