YOUTH in Penang would now have the opportunity to improve their interpersonal skills, thanks to an initiative by the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC).
A series of workshops aiming to empower the youth by the state government’s agency are set to take place at the PYDC centre at The Whiteaways Arcade, Beach Street from October to December this year.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said PYDC was committed to empowering the youth by coming out with the ‘Youth Career Enhancement Workshops’.
He said this would help the youth to improve their soft skills and technical knowledge, thereby increasing their competitiveness and value.
“Soft skills need to be upgraded from time to time and that’s why PYDC has taken such an initiative to organise the workshops to ensure the youth are value-added.
“In this contemporary era, we need to attend workshops as there will be many professional trainers out there, who can share their knowledge and expertise with us.
“It is also one of the ways for the youth to learn motivation theories and apply them in their work place.
“I would say the workshops will be a good platform for the youth to excel further in their career,” he told a press conference in Komtar today.
The workshops that will be held are Python Programming Essentials (online), Problem Solving Through Thinking Skills, Self-Leadership: Leading to Personal Excellence, Effective Time Management Strategies, CV Writing Skills and Interview Skills, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Professional Image and Grooming, Basic Graphic Design Skills and Work Motivation & Professionalism.
Soon added that the registration fees for all workshops are RM20 except for Python Programming Essentials (online) which cost RM100.
Priority will be given to Penangites aged between 18 and 35 while each workshop is limited to 30 participants. Participants will be given an e-programme voucher worth RM20 which can be used for upcoming PYDC workshops in accordance with the terms and conditions.
