THE sixth edition of the Penang Coffee and Desserts Festival, happening at Gurney Paragon Mall today until Sunday (Sept 22), has brought together 50 exhibitors.

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee (PETACH) chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said he was glad to witness that there were more varieties of exotic coffee and desserts that are bound to spoil the crowd this year.

“The pleasant aroma that we smell and the vibrant exhibitions that we see truly explain it all,” he said in his speech.

“This festival also provides an opportunity for everyone to further engage in Penang’s culture, arts, heritage and at the same time promotes Penang’s tourism, targeting four birds with one stone.”

He said when he attended the festival last year, he got the idea to make it to a bigger scale as well as to incorporate arts, culture, heritage and tourism.

“The Penang Coffee Festival will not be like any regular coffee festival, but one that addresses coffee with depth, going into details of coffee and arts, heritage and more.

“I also want a common platform for local coffee-related talent to step up and shine,” Yeoh said.

Pastries for those with sweet tooth.

This festival, which is part of the inaugural Penang Coffee Festival, is being organised by TLM Event, co-organised by Gurney Paragon Mall with the endorsement by Penang government.

The organisers are also having the signature Food Truck Gathering Party along Jalan Kelawai from 5pm to 10pm.

Twenty food trucks will serve a vast array of yummy delights.

Also present were Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit, TLM Event managing director Jack Wong, TLM Event executive director Aleex Quah, Hunza Group executive director Khor Sang Leng, Golden Chef Culinary Academy principal cum managing director Vincent Lee, Frad Coffee founder Sim Teong Chuan and Barista House founder Chong Chun Jiet.
