IN order to propel the youths forward, the Penang government will continue to support the efforts of digital and entrepreneurship development.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state, through Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), has launched a myriad of initiatives, including the Penang Young Digital Talent Programme, the Exabytes Digitalise Penang for Youth Programme, Reskilling and Upskilling & New Skilling: PYDC Essential Skills Programme.

“Penang is fortunate to be a strategic hub for corporates, manufacturing, and multinational corporations.

Chow speaking during the virtual session.

“Many of them have contributed to our goals by sharing their knowledge and by supporting various initiatives such as the Annual Achievers Showcase Young Enterprise (YE) Penang 2021.

“I would like to thank all the corporate sponsors who have helped to make the YE Programme 2021 a reality.

“I hope that more corporations will join forces to help the programme in reaching schools on the outskirts,” he said in his speech during the online launching ceremony of YE Penang 2021 today.

Chow was confident that the students, who are joining the programme, would become entrepreneurs in the future.

“In fact, we have long been aware and supportive of the YE Programme 2021 in Penang.

“The accomplishments over the last 33 years have been impressive and I applaud Junior Achievement (JA) Malaysia for their efforts to expose and guide our youths in the business and entrepreneurship fields,” he said.

Chow also conveyed his gratitude to the state Education Department for relentlessly supporting the programme.

“The YE teachers are also the backbone of this YE Programme 2021. Their dedication and commitment to nurture the students are much appreciated.

“I hope all the YE achievers can benefit from this programme.”

JA Malaysia Board trustee Datuk P’ng Soo Hong thanked the students, teachers, and corporate sponsors for being involved in the programme.

“This programme also helps the students to gain experience in running businesses.

“This is a milestone achievement for JA Malaysia,” he said.

State Education Department director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad also thanked all corporate sponsors in the state for contributing to the programme.

“It is a corporate driven programme where corporate volunteers engage with and mentor students throughout their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.

Also present virtually was First Solar managing director Datuk Tang Hon Yin.
