ESCAPE Penang has set two new Guinness World Records, further solidifying its reputation as a global leader in theme park innovation.
The latest records include the Longest Tubby Racer (dry ski slope slide) at 453.3 metres and the Largest Tipping Bucket, capable of holding 28,757 litres of water.
With these additions, ESCAPE Penang now holds a total of four world records, making it the only theme park in the world to achieve such a feat.
The park previously earned records for the Longest Tube Water Slide (1,111m) in 2019 and the Longest Zip Coaster (1,135m) in 2022.
Sim Leisure Group founder and chief executive officer Datuk Sim Choo Kheng emphasised that breaking records was never his primary objective.
“My goal has always been about maximising smiles per hour for our visitors, not just creating the longest or largest attractions,” Sim said during the Guinness World Records handover ceremony at ESCAPE Penang in Teluk Bahang on Feb 3.
He recalled that when the Tubby Racer first opened in 2019, he didn’t immediately realise its record-breaking potential.
“It was only in 2022, after conducting some research, that I discovered it was the longest in the world,” he said.
As for the tipping bucket, Sim noted that most around the world hold less than 2,000 litres of water.
“I thought, why not create something bigger and more exciting for groups of friends to enjoy?” Sim added.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai commended ESCAPE Penang’s contributions to the tourism sector.
“This achievement firmly positions ESCAPE Penang as a global leader in the theme park industry, showcasing Penang’s spirit of innovation and our drive to push boundaries,” Wong said.
Guinness World Records official adjudicator Kazuyoshi Kirimura was present to officially certify the latest records.
