KEY players in the industry will be sharing their visions, missions and ideas during the annual Penang International Green Conference and Exhibition (PGIGCE).

The PGIGCE 2019 will be held from 10am to 10pm from Sept 27 to 29 at Gurney Paragon Mall.

This year, state agency Penang Green Council (PGC), together with Malaysia Green Building Confederation (MGBC) Northern Chapter will be organising the event.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the theme for this year’s event is ‘Penang Green and Smart City’.

“The theme is about making the city sustainable, prosperous and future-inclusive for the people of Penang by effectively integrating physical, digital and human systems in the built environment.

“We are happy to have UBTECH on board as one of our main sponsors as it blends in well with our theme this year.

“UBTECH is a global leading company that has successfully designed, developed, manufactured and sold consumer humanoid robots, robots for business use and Jimu robots,” Chow told a press conference at his office today.

Chow, who is also the PGC chairman, said public would be able to learn more about green and sustainable solutions for the environment through the various activities lined up for the PGIGCE 2019.

PGIGCE 2019 organising chairman Baylon Tham said several activities had been prepared to allow participants to share their knowledge and to raise awareness on environmental issues.

“People will be able to improve their quality of life with this knowledge.

“The highlight of the three-day event is the international green conference, which will be held on Sept 28,” he said.

Tham said that the malaysiaGBC Eco Power Run IV would be held on Sept 29 in-conjunction with the PGIGCE 2019.

“It is a 5.1km fun run. We will not be providing any running T-shirt to reduce fabric pollution.

“We encourage participants to wear their own green T-shirt instead.

“The finisher medal is also unique as it is made of recycled wood,” he said.

Registration is RM20 per person. For more details, visit Malaysia Green Building Confederation MGBC Northern Chapter Facebook page.
