Exco man launches PBIM apparel and merchandise

PENANG’s most anticipated and largest sports event, the ‘Penang Bridge International Marathon’ (PBIM) is back this year after a gap of two years.

 

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said some 26,000 runners are expected to participate in the run which is set to take place on Dec 11.

 

“Every year, we make improvements to ensure PBIM continues to flourish.

 

“After a two-year hiatus, the PBIM committee and I are concerned over the health and safety of our runners, especially for those who are participating in the full marathon.

 

“We want to make sure our runners are physically fit before running and reach the finish line in a good shape,” Yeoh said during the launching ceremony of PBIM’s apparel and merchandise at Queensbay Mall yesterday (Oct 25).

Yeoh said this year the organiser would partner with several hospitals, namely Sunway Medical Centre Penang, Subang Jaya Medical Centre and Island Hospital, to offer health screening packages and medical forums for the runners.

 

Others who are collaborating with the organiser include the Penang Hospital, Seberang Jaya Hospital and Penang Island City Council (MBPP).

 

Yeoh also expressed his appreciation to Brooks, Seiko, Emiko,100 Plus, Asia Green Group, Nestle and IJM Land for their unwavering support to make PBIM a success all these years.

 

He thanked government agencies and the police for ensuring that they continue to uphold high standards of safety every year.

 

Also present during the ceremony was Penang police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

 

At the event, a fashion show featuring PBIM’s official apparel, medals and merchandise was also held.
