PENANG-based arts production house, Dabble Dabble Jer Collective, is set to organise a special event called ‘Readings@Tanjong: Negara Kita’ on Sept 16.
The event will be held at the Penang Harmony Centre at 6pm.
‘Readings@Tanjong: Negara Kita’ is part of the inaugural Penang Harmony Celebration, which is organised by the state agency Penang Harmony Corporation (Harmonico), and will be held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of Malaysia Day.
The Penang Harmony Celebration is almost a month-long celebration that began on Aug 31 and will continue until Sept 21.
Dabble Dabble Jer Collective founding member Miriam Devaprasana said there will be a mix of poetry and music performances with written works inspired by the theme ‘Harmony In Diversity’ during the event.
“The poets also include notable figures such as Datuk Seri Dr Anwar Fazal, Lucille Dass, Regina Ibrahim, Yee Heng Yeh and Kasvini Muniandy.
“When they come to the event, we want the people to think about belonging, togetherness, unity, and peace; a time to ponder on what it is to be Malaysian and to be living in this country that we all call home.
“They can come in their best traditional attire and let’s celebrate Malaysia Day together.
“Readings@Tanjong: Negara Kita is open to the public and free to attend, but pre-registration is required. Interested individuals can register at https://fb.me/e/4F9Wiwm2L .
For more information, inquiries can be directed to 04-226 1582, Miriam said in her statement.
