FESKOM is back!

THE Combat Sport Festival (Feskom) is back for its seventh edition with this year’s event to be held from Dec 6 to 30 in conjunction with Penang Pesta.
Exco member for Youth and Sports and Women, Family and Community Development Chong Eng held a short press conference regarding the event in Komtar on Nov 24.
“There are many types of combat sports but all of them are for the purpose of self-defence and not offence. I hope that those who already learned and who are going to learn these sports use them for defence rather than offence,” she said.
Feskom was first introduced by the Penang State Sports Council (MSNPP) in 2005 and has been held in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and now 2015.

This event is a competition of international standards which supports self-defence combat sports.

A total of five sports will be contended this year and they are pencak silat, boxing, karate-do, muay Thai and judo.

Feskom is also held to evaluate the level of performance by the state athletes who will be competing.

It especially focuses on evaluating Penang athletes and their opponents for the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2016 which will be held in Sarawak from July 21 to 31.

This year, the festival will see international athletes from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Brunei trading punches with their local counterparts.
