THE National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) is hoping to boost the film industry with the support from the Penang government.
Its chairman Datuk Gerald Hans Isaac hoped that the state could support the corporation by assisting them in the form of entertainment tax from movie ticket sales.
The corporation was hoping that the state could allocate a certain percentage of the tax for the corporation.
Hans said the move could serve as an incentive for filmmakers to produce more films.
Meanwhile, Chow said the state government would consider the request to ensure the sustainability of the entertainment industry.
Hans was accompanied by Finas chief assistant policy director Abdul Halim Anen and its chief assistant corporate communications director Mohamad Syimir Alfi Zahari.
Also present was Chow’s political secretary Teh Lai Heng, who is also the Komtar assemblyman.
