PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has urged the government agencies to find an amicable solution to resolve the protest by tow truck operators in the state.
It was reported that the operators went on strike to protest over an alleged monopoly of automaker franchise workshops.
Chow said the state has contacted the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, the Road Transport Department (RTD) and the Penang Motor Vehicles Workshop Owners Association to understand the situation.
“The strike will cause inconvenience to the road users. An amicable solution is needed to ensure that towing service is made available to the public,” Chow told a press conference in Komtar today.
Chow hoped that good sense would prevail.
