IN light of the Covid-19 pandemic, Iconic Medicare Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Iconic Worldwide Bhd, is stepping up its effort to assist the people.
Today, the company contributed a total of 100,000 three-ply face masks, worth RM70,000, which comes in the form of 50 cartons to the Penang government.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow was happy to note the effort from Iconic Medicare Sdn Bhd to the state.
“The state is thankful to Iconic Medicare Sdn Bhd for their commitment to give out face masks during this period of time.
“We will be distributing the face masks to all the service centres in the state before they are given out to the public.
“For example, the state Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain, who is also Batu Maung assemblyman has been giving out a lot of face masks to his constituents, especially in Mukim 12.
“There have been a lot of cases in this area, which has many factory workers.
“Hence, I would like express my gratitude to Iconic Medicare Sdn Bhd for their kind gesture,” he told Buletin Mutiara after receiving the face masks in Komtar today.
The company was represented by its managing director Datuk Tan Kean Tet, executive directors Katherine Tan, Jason Chung and Tan Cho Chia.
At a separate event, the Asia Comic Cultural Museum handed a piece of artwork by Hong Kong renowned cartoonist Lee Chi Ching to the state.
After the closure of Asia Comic Cultural Museum on March 1, its curator Dr Hew Kuan Yau presented the Chinese ink painting on martial arts to Chow.
Dr Hew said he had obtained Lee’s consent to keep the latter’s artwork in Penang rather than posting it back to Hong Kong.
“Lee’s masterpiece, which has been on display in the museum since 2016, is one of the valuable original manuscripts from overseas cartoonists.
“In 2015, Lee donated the painting to Asia Comic Cultural Museum to support the establishment of the museum as well as to promote Hong Kong’s comic art,” he said.
Chow was glad to receive the art painting from Dr Hew and said the artwork would be displayed at his office.
“We would like to thank Lee and Dr Hew for this gift to us,” he said.
Lee, 58, is a Hong Kong comic illustrator. His works include different painting media, such as cartoon, illustration, ink painting, western painting and sketch.
