THE SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd donated 100,000 pieces of surgical mask to the state government to show its support for combating the Covid-19 pandemic together.
Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, who received the surgical masks from SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd group chief executive officer Datuk Alex Kang, commended the company for its thoughtfulness.
“On behalf of the state government, I would like to thank the company for the generous contribution of the surgical masks.
“We are now fighting a tough battle against the pandemic, thus contribution such as this would be of great help.
“We will be distributing the masks to those who need it, such as the frontliners as well as the community,’’ said Teh after receiving the surgical masks from Kang in Komtar today.
Meanwhile, Kang said the SMT Technologies, which manufactures electric and electronic products, has now ventured into the production of surgical masks.
“We have about 2,000 people working in the company, thus we decided to produce surgical masks for their consumption.
“Due to the excellent productivity of our production team, we have produced more than what we needed. Thus, this is where we decided to market the masks.
“We are also donating the masks to various organisations.
“Our company is based in Sungai Petani, Kedah and we are in the process of setting up another branch in Batu Kawan,” added Kang.
Also present were Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Penang branch adviser Datuk Dr Ooi Eng Hock and its chairman Datuk Jimmy Ong
