HOMEGROWN one-stop convenience store chain, KK Super Mart & Superstore Sdn Bhd, has expanded to Penang, opening its first branch in Air Itam.

This new opening brings KK Mart’s total to 883 branches nationwide.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow commended KK Group of Companies founder Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan for his proactive and progressive efforts in setting up a branch in various states across the country.

“Such convenience stores are vital for families living in a particular vicinity to manage household needs without having to travel far to buy daily necessities.

“As this new branch is located in a considerably highly populated area in Penang, it will certainly help ease the burden on residents here, especially senior citizens.

“KK Mart also offers services such as online water and electric bill payments, top-up services and more.

“This effort by KK Mart to encourage people to embrace digitalisation directly plays a key role in supporting one of the key elements under Penang2030 vision, which aims to make Penang a smart state,” Chow said in his speech before officiating the store’s opening in Air Itam today.

Joining Chow at the momentous occasion were Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang and KK Mart Group of Companies founder Chai.

It was learned that KK Mart employs more than 5,000 employees throughout the country.

Chai, in his speech, expressed his excitement about opening the first KK Mart branch in Penang and hoped that the store would not only benefit the Air Itam community but also neighbouring areas.
