IN the hope of creating a vibrant and intelligent community, the Jalan Transfer/Jalan Argyll Village Community Management Council (MPKK) organised the inaugural Tanjong Futsal Sports Carnival 2022 at Kinta Futsal Club here.
Twelve teams consisting of 84 participants took part in the carnival.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the event, which was in line with the Penang2030 vision, has provided opportunities for all levels of society to get involved in sports activities.
“The state’s futsal image is growing and carnivals like this can unearth the talents of futsal participants.
“Apart from the usual goal of competing and winning in tournaments, carnivals like this are great for gaining new experiences and knowledge about futsal skills and communication skills,” he said.
Chow added that the Football Association of Penang (FAP) plays a crucial role in the development of football, including futsal, in Penang.
“In any competition, there will be a winner and a loser. But what is more important is your sporting spirit, your teamwork. Take this opportunity to advance yourself and your team.
“Sports is a universal catalyst that can unite the people,” he said in his speech during the opening ceremony of the carnival. Chow also thanked the sponsors for making the event a success.
Separately, Chow spoke about the LovePENANG campaign which was launched on June 10.
“The campaign is a call for everyone to love the state, and to put in efforts to rise from the impact of Covid-19.
“I hope that this LovePENANG campaign will ignite your spirit to strive your best for Penang,” he said.
Also present were Lau Keng Ee, the secretary to the Tanjong MP, and Jalan Transfer/Jalan Argyll MPKK chairman Mak Tong Lee.
