Food baskets for school bus drivers

THE livelihood of the school bus drivers has been badly affected since the emergence of the Covid-19 crisis.

In view of this, Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng highlighted the importance of providing continued assistance to them.

“Help should be given periodically, not only ‘one-off’, as the Covid-19 crisis is an ongoing battle. The situation actually prolongs.

“And this is the second time we are given out the assistance,’’ said Lim after helping to distribute the food baskets to the bus drivers.

Lim also urged the Federal Government to look into the plight of school bus drivers.

A total of 220 school bus drivers received the food baskets sponsored by the OHM Charity Division.

The food basket distribution was assisted by Lim himself together with his comrades, namely Joseph Ng (Air Itam assemblyman), Ong Ah Teong (Batu Lanchang assemblyman) and RSN Rayer (Jelutong MP).

Meanwhile, Penang School Bus Association chairman Ang Beng Peong thanked them for the aid given to the bus drivers as many were struggling financially and had to opt for other jobs.
