A MEMORABLE evening of hospitality and cultural vibrancy unfolded at Fort Cornwallis, George Town, as hundreds of attendees gathered to celebrate the Gourmet Nights reception.
Held in conjunction with the World Research Travel Conference (WRTC) 2024, over 600 delegates from 13 regions worldwide are participating in the five-day conference.
The event is jointly organised by the World Research Travel Organisation (WRTO) with support from the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and the Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai expressed his delight at seeing guests from diverse backgrounds come together at this historic venue.
“Fort Cornwallis is a historical place, and we are honoured to share our heritage and renowned local food with everyone here.
“My deepest appreciation goes to the event organisers for making this event a success, and I hope everyone enjoys the delicacies on offer,” he said in his speech during the event.
Wong further emphasised the importance of such gatherings for fostering connections among attendees.
Guests indulged in a sumptuous buffet featuring Penang’s signature dishes, including char koay teow, pasembur, hokkien mee, oyster omelette, and ais kacang.
Also present during the event were Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran, former Tourism Minister Tan Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, and WRTO deputy president Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah.
