THE Padang Kota Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK) hosted a health programme called ‘Fizikal Cergas, Minda Cergas’ at the Kedah Road Flats in Jalan Kedah on Apr 27.

Attracting over 150 participants, mostly senior citizens, the programme was made a success through the participation of several well-known health-related bodies that had put up booths to promote physical and mental health awareness.

State Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim said it was vital for each and everyone, regardless of age, to keep fit not only for their physical but also mental health.

“The evolvement of technology has limited our movement in this extremely fast-moving era, which is quite detrimental to our health.

“Penang boasts numerous organisations dedicated to promoting good physical and mental well-being, many of which are represented here today.

“Therefore, amid our hectic working lifestyle, we have to take time to exercise to keep fit and healthy,” Lim said in her speech.

Some of the booths set up were by MyDocLab Sdn Bhd, Orient Fitness, Skye Dental Penang, D’Home Mental Health, BIG Nuts, Ginseng History, Akademi Jariemas and others.

Participants also had the opportunity to get free medical services, such as eye screening, blood pressure check-ups, mental health awareness examinations and many others.
