Forty-four years of fruitful REHDA and Penang state govt collaboration

THE 44th anniversary dinner of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) on Oct 24 witnessed the close cohesion between key players of the property sector in Penang as well as the state government in their joint effort in ensuring the continued growth of the property sector and in the provision of affordable homes for Penangites.

 

Speaking at the dinner as the Guest of Honour, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow assured all who were present that his administration will not rest on its laurels in bringing continued prosperity to the state of Penang and that the property sector especially its key players who play an important role in being privy for its delivery.

 

“REHDA Penang has always played a vital role in bringing about development for the people of Penang in terms of creating new townships, job creation and business opportunities. REHDA Penang has been working closely with the state government and we appreciate the valuable feedback and recommendations that we have received,” Chow said in his speech.

 

“In August this year, I presented my vision and initiatives which will make Penang, a Family-Focused, Green and Smart State That Inspires the Nation by year 2030. Penang 2030, as it is popularly referred to, is a people-centric action plan driven by a four-theme approach. Apart from upgrading the economy, empowering the people and investing in built public environment, the state government also aims to increase liveability and enhance the quality of life of Penangites and many others who have made Penang their home and abode of choice.

 

“In this regard, support by REHDA for the past 44 years has brought considerable developments in the housing and property development industry in Penang. The active engagement of REHDA with the state government is essential for parties to arrive at mutually beneficial solutions particularly in addressing housing affordability issue, as we now strive for nation building and betterment of life through sustainable property development,” the chief minister added.

 

Also present were state exco members Chong Eng and Zairil Khir Johari, REHDA Malaysia president Datuk Soam Heng Choon, REHDA Penang chairman Datuk Toh Chin Leong and REHDA’s 44th annual dinner organising committee chairman Datuk David Fong Chin Chong.
