PENANG continues to be the preferred choice for investors, particularly in the manufacturing and service sectors, showcasing their interest in expanding operations within the state.

Responding to an oral question by A. Kumaresan (PH-Batu Uban), Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (PH-Padang Kota) highlighted a surge in investor confidence in Penang over recent years.

“Penang’s popularity stems from the unwavering commitment of the state government to foster economic development.

“This commitment has not only attracted investment but has also positively impacted the state’s tourism industry and related sectors,” Chow explained during the Penang Legislative Assembly session today.

He noted that the influx of investors has contributed to the elevation of Penang’s halal industry, which was actively promoted during official visits to Medan, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Chow underscored the state’s efforts to establish bilateral relations with other countries, emphasising the importance of fostering international connections.

From 2018 to September of the current year, he detailed a series of visits to countries and locations such as Indonesia, the UAE, Taiwan, the United States, Armenia, Turkey, Poland, the Netherlands, and China.

The Netherlands visit, in particular, involved the state’s engagement in the repatriation of skeletons, showcasing Penang’s involvement in international affairs beyond economic matters.
