PENGKALAN Kota has made history as the first state constituency in Penang to introduce a bi-weekly (every two weeks) free advisory service, covering legal, taxation, business registration, and abandoned policies.
Spearheaded by the Penang Community Harmony Care Association, this initiative aims to assist constituents, especially those facing financial constraints.
Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng announced that the service will be available on the first and third Fridays of each month from 7.30pm to 10.00pm at the JCI Secretariat in Harbour Trade Centre in Lebuh Macallum.
He expressed gratitude to the association for partnering with his service centre in this meaningful endeavor.
“This service offers a valuable opportunity for interested individuals to seek advice. Our team includes representatives from diverse backgrounds, ready to share their insights and expertise.
“We recognise the challenges that some constituents encounter when seeking advisory services. Therefore, we aim to make this service accessible and beneficial to those who require assistance,” he said at a press conference at JCI Secretariat in Harbour Trade Centre today.
Wong stressed the significance of community-driven initiatives like this in promoting social cohesion and empowerment. He anticipates that more individuals will appreciate and support such proactive measures.
Organising chairman Tan Khim Siang said he looked forward to the first session this Friday.
“We extend a warm welcome to everyone, irrespective of race or religion, to seek assistance if they encounter any issues. Language will not be a barrier, as we will provide multi-lingual support throughout the session,” he said.
Among those present were Life Insurance Planning advisor Ewe Khai Wei, and lawyer Law Cien Zen.
