THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has announced that motorists need not pay parking fees at all the Penang Smart Parking (PSP) lots in Penang island this Nov 18 and 19.
MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said the free parking announcement is in line with the announcement made by caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who has declared Nov 18 and 19 as public holidays.
“Motorists who park their vehicles at the PSP lots in Penang island do not have to pay parking fees on those two announced dates,” he said after chairing the MBPP special meeting this morning.
Separately, Yew said the council was ever ready to face the rainy season.
“Our teams are being deployed all over Penang island.
“And the five pumping stations under the MBPP are in good condition. We are working with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to ensure that the pumps are functioning well,” he said.
Yew said the pumping stations have so far managed to mitigate floods and there were no untoward incidents happened.
