THE full list of DAP candidates in Penang will be submitted to the party selection committee at the national level in the next few days, according to state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow, who is also the Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, said the state committee is currently in the process of finalising the list.
“After we have finalised the full list of candidates, it is up to the DAP selection committee at the national level to make a final decision on the individuals who will be contesting in the upcoming state election.
“The official announcement regarding the DAP candidates will only be made once the selection committee has reached a final decision.
“Most probably, we will announce our candidates at least a week before nomination day,” said Chow, responding to questions about the timeline for candidates’ announcement at a press conference at the Anson Road Market Food Court today.
Earlier, Chow was there to launch the newly-upgraded Anson Road Market Food Court that was completed in July last year.
Six states, namely Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, will hold their state polls simultaneously on Aug 12, with early polling on Aug 8. Meanwhile, nomination day is on July 29.
