ELEVEN teams from Malaysia, Singapore and China are set to pit their skills and teamwork in the Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta at Teluk Bahang Dam on June 16 in conjunction with Dumpling Festival.
The interesting part is those durian lovers could also have a chance to try out the ‘King of Fruits’ with only RM40 at the event. The durians include the well-known Musang King, Black Thorn and D24 species.
The event will also feature fun and interesting side programmes, including the Man Man Market and Children’s Dragon Boat Art Competition.
Man Man Market is a market for community-based that creates a traceable clean and fair food supply chain. It involves local producers to bring own organic products such as organic vegetables and handmade arts and crafts to showcase.
State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said these were among the fun-filled activities that would be held at the sidelines of the event.
He said health consultation, cultural exchange activity and seminars on the ideology of sustainability would also take place.
“There will also be parenting programmes and kids’ friendly event available.
“I personally look forward to joining everyone for the Penang Dragon Boat Regatta,” he told a press conference in Komtar today.
Yeoh pointed dragon boat sport is a universal language to bring people together and break down barriers.
“As we are heading towards Experience Penang Year (EPY) 2020, we will continue to advocate more healthy living and sportsmanship events,” he added.
