PREPARATIONS have been undertaken by representatives of affected constituencies in Penang, ahead of the water disruption from Jan 10 to Jan 14.

Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, coordinating assistance, mentioned about RM18,000 allocation for 40 water tanks.

“These water tanks will be gradually distributed to the three state constituencies, namely Padang Kota, Komtar, and Pengkalan Kota. Each water tank, with a capacity to hold 500 gallons, costs about RM400.

“Pengkalan Kota will receive 25 tanks due to its highly-populated area, followed by eight in Komtar and seven in Padang Kota.

“These water tanks, which can fill up to 1,890 litres of water, will be placed in the neighbourhood for the convenience of the residents,” she told reporters during an inspection of one of the water tanks in Lebuh Macallum today.

Lim urged the residents not to use the water in the tanks for consumption.

“This water is meant for daily use instead of consumption. They should prepare their drinking water ahead of the water cut. They can contact our respective service centres if they need any assistance, said Lim.

“We hope the residents can do their best early to avoid any hassle,” he said.

The 25 water tanks in his constituency will be managed by the management of each building.
