ONE of Penang’s vibrant festivals, the George Town Festival (GTF), will be wrapping up with its grand finale, ‘The Light in the City’ offering a spectacular lineup of programmes at Beach Street this weekend.

‘The Light in the City’ is a two-day programme (July 29 & 30) that will feature activities such as ‘Immersio-Digital Art Gallery’, ‘Immersio-Outdoor Projection Mapping’, ‘Riso Art Jam-Art Bazaar’, ‘Riso Art Jam- Art Exhibition’, ‘dothedoodle’, ‘Colour the Street’, ‘Picnic by the Street’, and ‘Joy in George Town’.

These programmes, designed to captivate and delight visitors, will take place from 5pm to 11pm.

Apart from that, on July 30, GTF will be also showcasing more events, namely ‘Batik Showcase: A Modern Interpretation’, ‘Jocelyn J Chin: EDM Crossover Piano’ and ‘At Adau: Rhythms of Borneos’.

According to the festival director Jack Wong, this year’s GTF has received overwhelming support from the public and 90% of tickets were sold out for all the shows.

“This year, the outdoor events in Berapit, Batu Kawan and Air Itam saw a surge in visitors’ turnout, surpassing expectations.

“We hope to see visitors thronging Beach Street this weekend to take part in activities such as ‘dothedoodle,’ ‘Colour the Street’ and many others,” Wong said when he was contacted by Buletin Mutiara today.
