BUKIT Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai and Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit together with members of their service team were at the MBPP Pulau Tikus market on Aug 25 to distribute up to 500 Malaysian flags to the market-goers and patrons in conjunction with the forthcoming Merdeka celebration.
Speaking to the press prior to the start of the programme, Wong remarked that the activity symbolised the love for the new Malaysia after GE14 which saw a change of government at the federal level.
“We are here in Pulau Tikus market to distribute the Malaysian flags in conjunction with Merdeka Day (next week). Another round would be held tomorrow at the Tanjung Bungah market to mark the 61st anniversary of our nation’s independence,” said Wong.
“It’s also the first Merdeka celebration after a new (federal) government was formed. It’s important to share this Merdeka joy with the public,” he added.
Also present were MBPP councilors Connie Tan Hooi Peng and R. Kaliyappan.
