FOR the first time, the state is organising the Penang Run 2013/2014 around the island in four series at different time, venue and distances.
The main objective of this event is to adopt a healthy living lifestyle through running activities and to promote Penang as a running and runners’ state.
“We have targeted around 1,000 runners for each race,” said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on March 6 at a press conference.
“Registration fee for each race is RM60 per athletes and registration for Combo Series (four races) is RM200 per athletes. The race is scheduled to start at 5.30am.” said Andrew Loh,Organising chairman of Penang Run.
“Runners will be entitled to get a T-shirt with each race registration, certificate of participation, finishing medal and other goodies.” He added.
Andrew Loh hopes this event can boost the Penang tourism industry by introducing the world heritage site route and inner beauty of Penang and showcase the real essence of the island. -EJ-
