THE One Hope Charity and Welfare Berhad is planning to hold a small-scale event on Jan 10 next year to give away necessities to the needy.

Its chairman Chua Sui Hau said the organisation hoped to give away 4,200 sets of necessities and cash vouchers to the needy from the 40 state constituencies, in view of the Covid-19 crisis.

“The needy families can use the vouchers to buy household items. The people’s welfare is our top concern,” Chua told Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during a 30-minute courtesy visit today.

Chua said the team members would be facilitating the event, themed ‘Free Essential Needs for the Needful Family’, to ensure it runs smoothly.

“We have also contributed RM3.5 million to the frontliners during this pandemic.

State Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who was present, lauded One Hope Charity and Welfare Berhad for its noble effort.

“We don’t encourage a huge gathering now due to Covid-19. The state will assist the organiser.

“The recipients who will be receiving the food items and vouchers will be from the state Welfare Department’s list,” he said.

Chow thanked One Hope Charity and Welfare Berhad for aiding those in need during these trying times.

Also present was One Hope Charity and Welfare Berhad advisor Datuk Seri R. Arunasalam.
