THE Penang government is committed to bring positive development and changes to the state.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the government would ensure that the development could benefit the people.
“My duty as the Chief Minister is to ensure that each state constituency receives equal allocation that is needed to generate development.
“The allocation which are disbursed are for the benefit of the people,” he said in his speech during the Pengkalan Kota Chinese New Year open house in SJK (C) Li Tek in Macallum Street today.
The open house was organised by Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen.
The open house saw hundreds of people thronging the event.
They were treated to local delights and a sumptuous dinner.
Chow lauded Gooi’s dedication in his service.
“Gooi, a first-term elected representative, constantly submits a report every three months on how his constituency allocation was spent.
“I believe that he sets a great example to others,” Chow said.
Earlier in his speech, Gooi said the allocation was spent on infrastructure development, religious welfare programmes, upgrading the Tan Jetty, upgrading a hall at Chew Jetty, upgrading a market, community programmes and repainting a flat in Noordin Street Ghaut.
