Govt striving to draw new investments and re-investments

THE Penang government is constantly attracting new investments and re-investments to the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said new investments and re-investments are important to generate more employment opportunities in the state.

“The services sector in Penang, such as in medical tourism, is also growing rapidly,” Chow said during a meeting with the Netherlands ambassador to Malaysia Aart Jacobi today.

Chow said the state believed that a good transportation network is crucial for the development of Penang.

“It is crucial yet a challenging task,” he said.

Issues such as water supply and traffic concerns were also discussed during the 35-minute courtesy visit from Jacobi in Komtar.

Jacobi said Malaysia is one of the preferred destinations for investment in the Southeast Asia.

“The country has a huge potential for foreign direct investment,” he said.
