A grand Mid-Autumn Festival will be held at Taman Kejiranan Karpal Singh in Island Glades on Sept 14 (Saturday), starting at 6.30pm.
Organised by the MPKK Island Glades and supported by the office of Seri Delima assemblywoman Connie Tan, the festival promises an evening filled with cultural activities, performances, and games.
“While we usually celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in various locations within this constituency, the biggest celebration this year will take place at Taman Kejiranan Karpal Singh. Last year, it was held at Jalan Gangsa,” Tan shared with reporters at the Karpal Singh Neighbourhood Park.
The event will feature 10 booths offering free popcorn, candy floss, ice cream, traditional biscuits, snacks, Chinese tea, mooncakes, and lanterns for children. A lantern parade will also take place, adding to the festive atmosphere.
MPKK Island Glades chairman Teh Chun Kai added that over 200 Malaysian-themed lanterns, including 80 at the park’s entrance, will be hung to enhance the festive spirit and commemorate the upcoming Malaysia Day. The lanterns will feature four colours: red, blue, white, and yellow.
The organisers have also invited Jet Lee, founder of MyHans, and his team to introduce the Hanfu experience at the event.
“Visitors will be enchanted by youths dressed in traditional Chinese costumes, as well as the opportunity to try out the ancient game of pitch-pot, where players attempt to throw arrows into an empty wine pot.
“We will also share the folklore of the rabbit on the moon with the children,” Lee added.
Also present were MPKK Island Glades treasurer Kaptain Ong, committee members Chow Heap Pun and Andy Lim, and event coordinator Lee Wee Siong.
