GEORGE Town Festival 2016 is back!
Scheduled from July 29 to Aug 28, several world premiere and South-East Asia premieres will thrill, entertain and mesmerise visitors.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and GTF festival director Joe Sidek, who held a press conference in Komtar on April 15, revealed some of the highlights of the GTF 2016. Strandbeest will make its Southeast-Asian premiere on the opening weekend on July 30 and 31.

Strandbeest, according to Joe is “making science sexy”.
“Imagine PVC skeletons the size of trucks ambling gracefully across the beach. Dutch artist Theo Jansen has enthralled people from all over the world and he will be in Penang to mesmerise us,” Joe told the press.

Lim also highlighted that on the mainland GTF will have the BFF
“After a successful inauguration last year, the Butterworth Fringe Festival (BFF) returns with more exciting new acts,” he said.

At the closing weekend, a multi-arts collaborative project will see a padi field right in the middle of Macallum flats.
The show “Moved By Padi” is led by Malaysia’s leading choreographer and dancer Aida Redza.
