AIR Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng has refuted claims made in a viral message accusing him of encouraging the public to invest in the stock market.

During a media conference at the Air Putih service centre, Lim clarified that he has no knowledge of stock trading and condemned the use of his image in a fabricated WhatsApp message as a deceitful tactic by unscrupulous individuals.

“I received the viral message yesterday (Dec 23) and want to remind the public not to fall for it. The message falsely claims that I recommend stock investments, which is untrue,” Lim said.

When asked if he had lodged a police report, Lim stated he had not, as the perpetrators behind the scam could not be identified.

On a separate matter, Lim announced that over a thousand red lanterns would be installed across the Air Putih constituency by early next month to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.
