LOOKING for a perfect spot to hang out this weekend? Then, George Town Festival’s (GTF) ‘Macallum 360’ will be the right place for you to be at.

The programme is set to happen tomorrow, July 15 at the community field at Lebuh Macallum.

Former Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi expressed his excitement about the GTF returning to the neighbourhood of Macallum for the third time.

“This event will be held at the community field in Lebuh Macallum, and with this, we are bringing world-class cultural performances closer to the community.

“Over the years we have been getting good response from the local community for the GTF, and last year we received an overwhelming response for the ‘Macallum Rooftop Concert,’” Gooi said during a press conference held at his service centre yesterday (July 13).

The ‘Macallum 360’ will feature a variety of performances, including Joget dance by The Wak Long Music & Art Centre, dhol performances by Penang Dhol Blasters and a hands-on workshop on angklung (an Indonesian musical instrument) by Kicau Bilau.

Apart from that, the famous drum troupe ‘Orang Orang Drum Theatre’ will be joining the festival and provide audiences with the opportunity to participate in creating music using kompang and djampe.

Additionally, the Crafty Circus will entertain visitors with their mesmerising circus performance.

Meanwhile, GTF director Jack Wong said that the stage will be set up in a way that the audience will have the chance of a 360-degree view.
