GLOBAL technological innovation is rapidly advancing social progress.
From artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to blockchain technology, breakthroughs in the field of science and technology have had a significant impact on society.
Penang, with its strategic geographical location, well-known infrastructure, and multicultural society, stands to benefit greatly from this progress.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow affirmed that the state government is consistently optimising investment opportunities and policies to benefit the community.
“We are doing our part by upgrading the facilities here to attract more domestic and foreign investment to invest in the high-tech manufacturing industry and information technology.
“We aim to map Penang as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the Southeast Asia region,” said Chow in his speech during the 3rd Penang International Hanwang Forum at E&O Hotel in George Town today.
The forum, organised by the Beijing International Exchange Association Sustainable Development Committee with co-organisers Aipu International Sdn Bhd and Seeds of Love Civilisation, was themed ‘Global Technology Innovation and Cultural Heritage.’
Over the years, the Hanwang Forum has been held across Asia, Europe, Africa, and Central America, attracting participation from thousands of domestic and international royalty members, government leaders, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs.
Through the Hanwang Forum, Chow firmly believed the forum would enhance Penang’s investment climate.
“It provides a platform for collaboration in global technological innovation and cultural heritage industry,” he said.
Chow also highlighted the importance of the Penang Green Council (PGC) in contributing to the global green economy.
“PGC has made significant progress in promoting green development and remains a pillar of our environmental agenda,” he noted.
Ray Liu, president of the Beijing International Exchange Association Sustainable Development Committee president, expressed his pleasure at attending the forum in Penang.
“This is an important milestone, particularly as we celebrate out 50 years of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations,” he said.
