THE Harmony of Hope Christmas charity concert, an eagerly awaited annual event, concluded on a high note, raising an impressive RM80,000 in support of Charis Hospice and House of Hope Penang.
Held at Wesley Methodist School Penang (International), the concert was a heartwarming celebration of music, talent, and the true essence of the festive season.
The school’s students and staff came together to deliver an unforgettable evening filled with performances that resonated with the spirit of giving and community.
The event was graced by Madam Tan Lean Kee, wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who praised the school’s commitment to making a difference.
In her address, Tan highlighted the profound values that the school instills in its students, emphasising that the evening was more than just a display of exceptional talent – it was a testament to compassion, service, and community spirit.
“This concert is not merely a performance; it is a reflection of Wesley Methodist School’s dedication to nurturing young minds and hearts.
“The emphasis on STREAM education, coupled with artistic expression, prepares students to use their talents for the greater good, making a meaningful impact in society,” she said during the concert in December last year.
She also commended the school’s unwavering support for Charis Hospice and House of Hope, noting that the funds raised will provide vital care and assistance to the community’s most vulnerable.
“As we enjoy these beautiful melodies tonight, let us remember that every note played and every word sung carries a message of hope and love,” she added.
Wesley Methodist School senior principal Lau Chong Beng underscored the significance of the concert, describing it as more than just an event – it was an educational journey.
“Through initiatives like the Harmony of Hope concert, our students learn invaluable lessons about love, compassion, and charity.
“We are deeply grateful to Charis Hospice and House of Hope for giving our students the opportunity to engage with these causes,” he shared.
Lau reaffirmed the school’s commitment to fostering a spirit of giving, rooted in the teachings of Christ.
“At Wesley Methodist, we believe in going beyond academics to inspire our students to be instruments of positive change.
“Events like this concert are a reflection of that mission,” he added.
The Harmony of Hope Christmas concert was not only a showcase of musical brilliance but also a powerful reminder of the impact of collective effort.
From the mesmerising performances to the overwhelming support from parents, students, and the community, the event exemplified how music and goodwill can come together to make a difference.
The RM80,000 raised will go a long way in supporting Charis Hospice’s palliative care services and House of Hope’s programmes for underprivileged families, bringing comfort and hope to those who need it most.
