DISAPPOINTMENT was seen on everyone’s face as the Tanjung 10km Run was cancelled on the day of the event itself due to the haze which was very bad that morning.

Exco member for Youth and Sports, Women, Family and Community Development Chong Eng, who was present at Seri Mutiara, the Governer’s official residence, on Oct 24 said “I would like to thank the organising committee for making this wonderful event possible even though the run was cancelled due to weather circumstances. I hope the participants understand that this decision was made after much consideration to prevent any mishaps from happening.”

The Tanjung 10km Run 2015 was organised in conjunction with the official birthday of Governor Yun Abdul Rahman Abbas.

It has become a tradition for Lions Club of Tanjung, Penang to make it an annual event which promotes a healthy lifestyle and raises fund for environment projects.

Penang Amateur Athletic Association (PAAA) president Datuk Syed Mohd Aidid Syed Murtaza was also present and thanked all the participants for their continuous support for the event.

Funds collected will be given to the Association of Resource and Education for Autistic Children (Lions REACh) which focuses on special education for children with autism.

Although the run was cancelled, the lucky draw still went on and 20 participants walked away with various prizes that ranged from electrical appliances, tablets and smartphones to the grand prize of a motorcycle
