VISITORS to the two-day ‘Think Green Campaign’ held at the Penang Science Cluster (PSC) over the weekend have now an even better understanding on green initiatives.
Ten students of Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC), who are pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations in their third year, organised the campaign as part of an assignment.
After four months of preparation, including brainstorming sessions and planning, the students’ efforts paid off when the campaign was executed successfully.
HCUC lecturer and campagin adviser Nur Adillah Maaz commended the students for an outstanding job in organising the campaign.
“They have proactively contributed and executed the event as a team.
“The two-day campaign is a tough assignment for the students as it tested their leadership and management skills from the beginning until the end of project.
“I’m really proud of them as they managed to pull through despite the tight deadline and assignments from other subjects.
“Well done,” she said in her speech during the opening address of the event at PSC on Saturday.
The campaign provided a good example of hands-on learning as it was a full coursework based subject that required students to organise a campaign of behalf of a client and secure partnerships with industry players.
Campaign director Ooi Juu Yeen said the campaign was aimed at educating and promoting a sustainable consumption pattern among consumers.
“This will act as a catalyst in promoting cross-sector partnerships as safeguarding the environment requires collective effort of the communities,” she said.
Ooi extended her gratitude to the HCUC management for providing invaluable support and ideas.
‘Think Green Campaign’ was supported by Think City, GreenSmiths and endorsed by the Penang Green Council (PGC).
Its programme partners of the campaign included Arts-ED, Penang Hills Watch, Knock
Knots, Green Origin, Remix Paper Art and PSC as a venue partner.
